Juan F. Coronatti in El Intercafé: “There are millions of Ukrainians surrounded in the south who want to leave and but they can’t”
The general director of the Spanish Agency for the Protection of Human Rights (CIPDH), Juan F. Coronatti, has stated in Intereconomía Valencia regarding the situation of the refugees: “in a humanitarian crisis like this, the spotlights are focused on Poland because that is where more people are leaving. than 2 million people, but Ukraine has 40 million citizens and most of them cannot leave through Moldova because they are fenced off in southern regions, and that is where the main problem is”
In this sense, Coronatti explained: “through our kyiv office, we received a petition requesting our direct intervention for humanitarian aid and in this case we have made an exception to accept the challenge. We have four official letters, from the governors of the south, the government fund, and the Catholic and Orthodox Church to intervene in the south of the country and create a humanitarian green corridor that links Spain with Ukraine.”
For this reason, the general director of the Spanish Agency for the Protection of Human Rights (CIPDH) has assured: “the European Union is not prepared to prevent the states bordering Ukraine from collapsing with the arrival of refugees. The truth is that there is a palpable lack of coordination in many countries, including Spain”.
Finally, in reference to the economic situation, Juan F. Coronatti has pointed out: “circumstances affect some more than others. The Europe that has more business with Russia is the most affected, but Spain is not one of them because we do not have an energy dependency”.
